Duties will mainly be supporting the radiographers in clinical duties in CT, and will include supporting in venepuncture. You will also be involved in the smooth and efficient running of the service including some admin and clerical duties, for example making appointments on the computerised Radiology Information System.  

Applicants will be expected to be well organised, have an interest in patient care, good communication skills and familiarity with IT systems. Ideally you will have experience of relevant work in a healthcare environment and have a level 3 NVQ or equivalent in healthcare.

To work as an individual within the Discharge to Assess/Supported Discharge team within patients homes/care homes with patients with a variety of clinical conditions. Your role will include assessing and supporting patients discharged home on the home first pathway or patients discharged to care homes for further assessment under the discharge to assess pathway.  Your role will also include providing physiotherapy treatment to patients on our supported discharge caseload.

Your role will cover the geographical area covered by Morecambe Bay including North Lancashire, South lakes and Furness and the ability to travel is a essential requirement of the role.

You will provide specialist physiotherapeutic assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice for a range of frequently complex conditions for patients on their caseload.

To be responsible for your own clinical record keeping, including hand-written and electronic data recording, in accordance with Trust, Care Group and Chartered Society of Physiotherapists standards. 

To take an active part in In-Service Training and external education in line with Continual Professional Development (CPD) Care Group Guidelines, to maintain standards of care in line with evidence based practice. To disseminate information from training attended as required.

You will be part of a very friendly and welcoming team who support each other and work very closely to provide the best care for our patients in the Morecambe Bay area.

Duties will include providing face to face therapy to patients, data inputting, health & safety tasks and general admin duties. You will work as part of a clinical team to assist in the assessment and treatment of patients in ward settings. This will include mobility progression and exercise provision.

You will assist in the management of patient caseloads, aid discharge process, and complete ongoing referrals. 
Support and training will be given from an experienced physiotherapy team, to develop your knowledge and skills in specific clinical areas. We have regular in-service training for all therapy technical instructors and actively encourage participation in this.

To join the team you will need relevant experience in health or social care as a therapy or healthcare assistant or an NVQ level 3 in a subject relevant to therapy or rehabilitation (see person specification for details).

The successful applicants will be an integral member of the newly created Frailty Intervention Team based in the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. The aim of this team to to prevent admissions and support discharges in a timely way for our frail and older patients thus minimising their length of stay in hospital.
