Ward 20 is a busy elderly care ward which has a focus on multidisciplinary team working, dementia care and a keen eye for developing staff.  Medical Unit 2 where Ward 20 is based is a friendly site with excellent educational opportunities and support.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Rheumatology team within the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT). We are seeking a clinician with imagination, drive and commitment to work across Morecambe Bay.

10PA Full time, but applications would be welcome from those wishing to work part time.

This is a great opportunity to be part of the Rheumatology Department who are seeking a replacement Consultant Rheumatologist to join a team of 3.5 consultants, 4 specialist registrars, 2 GPSI’s, specialist nursing staff and fully functional wider MDT, supported by input from all associated specialties.

This is a replacement post and we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and forward-looking rheumatologist. There is no GIM commitment for this post. The post is for a full-time contract (10 PAs) but the option to work flexibly (less than full time) exists if it is the candidate’s preference. The job is available as soon as a successful candidate is appointed. The appointee will be required to offer the appropriate level of skills in general rheumatology whilst expertise in a sub-specialist area would be welcomed, particularly in ultrasound

We actively encourage involvement in research and education. There are plenty of opportunities to work with Lancaster University and Lancaster Medical School.

Applicants must possess MRCP or equivalent, be fully registered with the GMC and hold a license to practice. Applicants must have entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Rheumatology via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview date).

The post will be based at Lancaster Royal Infirmary. with the expectation  to work at the other sites as required.

This is a replacement appointment for either a Clinical or Medical Oncologist to join a motivated and experienced medical team with 5 locally employed Oncologists (four medical one clinical) and four visiting Clinical Oncologists (who visit from a local Lancashire Trust).  Disease sites will depend on whether a clinical or medical oncologist is appointed, however the post holder will preferably demonstrate an interest in Lung, Colorectal or Gynae Cancers. Clinical Oncology sessions will be held at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

The Hospitals are situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, surrounded by an area of outstanding natural beauty offering superb outdoor and recreational activities, particularly related to the sea, lakes, fells and countryside. The Trust has a keen interest and deep involvement in medical and dental education at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. Medical Students from Lancaster Medical School receive the whole of their education, academic and clinical, in Cumbria and North Lancashire following the Liverpool undergraduate medical curriculum. UHMBT is the lead NHS organisation and takes responsibility throughout the five years of the degree for the provision of acute practice placements.

You must be fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice and be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining your CCT at the time of interview.

Millom Hospital has a nine bedded inpatient ward which provides care for the local community for patients with a wide variety of health needs including palliative and end of life care. We also support patients with on-going nursing medical and therapy need when recovering from exacerbations of chronic conditions.

Millom Hospital is at the heart of Millom integrated care community and also includes therapy team, district nursing team, case management team and GP Practice. The Advanced nurse practitioner will work closely with these teams to support Multi Disciplinary Team working and also be involved within service improvement.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide expert care and treatment to patients within agreed protocols and clinical guidelines. However the Nurse Practitioner will also have the ability to make decisions outside these frameworks, where necessary based on best practice.

Work with clinical colleagues lead the development of clinical services within medicine and improve the quality of care delivered.

There would be an opportunity to discuss about rotation into other areas to promote the development of skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated 37.5 hour band 5 staff nurse to take up a rotational post between Langdales’s Step up Step Down Unit and an acute medical ward at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. The post will be a six months rotation in both areas with review after a 12 month period with many opportunities of using your newly acquired unique transferable skills for permanent positions. The aim of this post is to be able to support the joint working of both organisations and also support staff to develop skills and knowledge in both areas. The post holders will develop the ethos of integrated care and seamless services ensuring that patient care is delivered to the highest possible standard

The Langdale unit is situated within Westmorland General at Kendal in the heart of the lake district. The step up step down unit focuses on a high standard of holistic assessment and care planning of patients who are admitted from both Community services and secondary care. The aim is to be able to facilitate early patient discharge through a Multi-Disciplinary team approach working with partners from both health and social care.

The acute medical services at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary offer a range of opportunities to gain skills in the management of patients with acute strokes, respiratory failure and urgent and emergency care.

UHMB has recently been awarded outstanding for care by the CQC. The AMU is the first in the country to receive GSF accreditation. Training and development is very highly commended within the organisation. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced physiotherapist to apply for the permanent Band 7 Team Lead position.The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of the Community Physiotherapy service across South Cumbria.

The service has 2 main bases at Barrow and Kendal, with a satellite base at Millom, therefore you must have the ability to work and travel to various sites across South Cumbria independent of public transport.

Ensure that local protocols are developed and adhered to and management of risk and incidents for the service.

Ward 23 is looking to recruit an experienced Band 5 registered nurses to join our dynamic and forward thinking team. Ideally, you will have experience in nursing patients who are either in the acute stage immediately following a stroke or participating in the ongoing care phase of active rehabilitation after a stroke.

We are a 24 bedded ward specialising in stroke care and rehabilitation. We enjoy a close relationship with the clinicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapy and dieticians. You will be expected to proactively engage with these professions to provide the best quality care and outcomes for our patients. You will participate in providing and sharing information throughout the day, to patients and their relatives, at ward rounds and at regular ward multidisciplinary meetings.

You will be expected to participate in internal rotation onto night duty and to work over 7 days.

There will also be a further rotational opportunity with the Acute stroke unit-Huggett Suite

You will be encouraged and supported to mentor student nurses and junior staff nurses and to provide support to all team members through a proactive approach to managing your daily workload and appropriate delegation. Excellent communication and time management skills are a necessity to this position. You will be encouraged to develop your nursing skills, mentorship and you will be supported to undertake additional training and study days.
