We are inviting applications for a Bank Clinical Photographer to undertake clinical and ophthalmic photography. The post will involve travel to, and work at any of the hospitals in the Morecambe Bay area.

The department undertakes a range of diagnostic imaging modalities for our ophthalmology units including fundus photography, fluorescein and ICG angiography, and virtual clinics, as well as a variety of clinical imaging for various departments, such as maxillo facial, E.N.T, tissue viability, plastics and dermatology. The department offers a bereavement photography service, and you will be expected to support this. We also offer a large format poster printing service, and some experience of poster design and production would be useful.

For a Band 6 role you will be expected to have a BSc in Medical Photography or equivalent and have completed a post graduate certificate in clinical photography. You must also have recent and extensive post qualification practical experience in medical photography in a wide range of clinical settings, as well as ophthalmic imaging, including fundus photography and fluorescein angiography. You will be required to work alone and unsupervised as well as part of a team, with the occasional requirement to deputise for the Head of Department as needed. Your interpersonal skills will need to be excellent and skill in time management and prioritising workload is essential.

If you do not have the extensive and relevant experience specified above for the Band 6 role, we would be willing to consider an application for a Band 5 role. You will be expected to have a BSc in Medical Photography or equivalent and have completed a post graduate certificate in clinical photography. You will be expected to have some recent practical experience in general clinical and/or ophthalmic photography and be eligible for registration.

Applicants with a photography degree but without the graduate or post graduate certificate or required clinical experience may be considered for a trainee post at Band 5 Annexe U, rising to the first pay point on Band 5 after successful completion of a graduate or post graduate certificate in clinical photography and in-house training. The role requires a good working knowledge of photographic digital workflows and equipment. You will need excellent communication skills and an appreciation of the issues concerning patient consent and confidentiality.

Those candidates selected for interview will need to provide a portfolio of their recent photography demonstrating relevant work if possible and a variety of techniques.

As a Bank ATO your main responsibilities will include:

  • To assist in the set up for the aseptic preparation of total parenteral nutrition (TPN), intravenous additives, cytotoxic medication and sterile and non-sterile small scale manufacture of items for individual patients.
  • Working as a member of the Pharmacy team to provide safe, timely, appropriate, cost-effective and high quality pharmaceutical services for patients and staff.
  • Shifts needing to be covered are Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.

Experience in a hospital or community Pharmacy is desirable.
