University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust covers a large geographic area which encompasses the Furness peninsula, the city of Lancaster and the Lake District. We provide a comprehensive range of acute and support hospital services to a population of 350,000 based around Morecambe Bay.

The Lancaster Operating Theatre Department comprises of six operating theatres, including a dedicated Women’s Unit, undertaking a variety of surgical specialties, elective and emergency surgery all supported by a dedicated post anaesthetic care team.

We are delighted to offer a suitably qualified and experienced Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner the opportunity to join our Leadership Team to support and lead established multidisciplinary teams as a Clinical Leader.

You will have Leadership responsibilities for our recovery service. You will provide effective leadership and support to all grades of staff, work with the multidisciplinary teams including the pain service, planning and directing activities and developing the team to meet service demands of the future.

You will be required to assist in the management of the nursing and ODP workforce, being part of the theatre management team.  This post may require you to support and work with colleagues within our other sites at University of Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust.

You will possess working knowledge of all perioperative environments and applicants must have significant experience working in recovery. 

You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and strong leadership qualities. You must also be able to demonstrate an in depth understanding of key issues facing NHS and specifically Theatres services and the ability to translate themes and guidance to deliver aspirational clinical standards.

This post is essential to delivering local and national targets to ensure standards and quality of patient care and services are maintained, and will provide a vital role in supporting the continuing productive theatre programme.

You will be enthusiastic, motivated and flexible with an ability to adapt to meet service demands over a seven day period.

The department is committed to appraisal, to support continuous education and professional development.

You will be required to participate in providing 24 hour cover and on-call duties.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.

We are looking for someone to join our established team of Trauma Co-ordinators to provide a high standard of care to our patients, this post will be a permanent role for 21 hours per week.

  • Assisting with the prioritisation of the Trauma list
  • Supporting consultants with their plans
  • Liaising with wards & Service Managers
  • Maintaining regular contact with patients to update with their plan
  • Data collection such as updating the National Hip Fracture database 
  • Audits  
  • Helping to support with projects such as neck of femur reducing length of stay
  • Skin & safety surveillance
  • Be an active participant in virtual fracture clinics

Furness Integrated Care Community team are a team of health and care workers, voluntary organisations and wider community assets working together to practice population health.

An opportunity has arisen for a Care Coordinator to join the team.  We are looking for a friendly and proactive new team member to assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidenced based patient care, liaising with the multidisciplinary team within a community setting, supporting our residents  to live independently.

Ward 37 is a 27 bedded ward and has a specialist interests in respiratory care, providing acute, dynamic and compassionate care to our patients. We have a fantastic team which works closely with the MDT and advocates collaborative working.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated nurse. You will be reliable, flexible, motivated and have a commitment to delivering high quality care to our patients.
