An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and innovative Advanced Nurse Practitioner to work within the Integrated Community Care Group at the University Hospital of Morecombe Bay (UHMB).

The post holder will be based at Abbey View in Barrow in Furness. There will also be an expectation for the post holder to be flexible to be able to support other community inpatients including Millom and the Langdale Unit on a rotational basis.

Abbey View is a 24 bedded community inpatient unit based at Furness General Hospital. Abbey View provides ongoing medical and therapy needs to patients who no longer need acute care. This includes patients who require rehabilitation , end of life care or ongoing support following exacerbations of acute / chronic conditions.

As the Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will provide expert care and treatment to patients within agreed protocols and clinical guidelines but where appropriate, will also have the ability to make decisions outside these framework based on best practice. You should have the skills and experience to work collaboratively with clinical colleagues, leading the development of clinical services within medicine and improving quality of care.

As a trust we are committed to continuous professional development of staff and supporting staff to develop their skills and knowledge.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated nurses to work on Ward 35 at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Ward 35 provides care for all types of surgical patients including general, urology, ENT, Max Fac, orthopaedics and colorectal specialties.

As a staff nurse you will:

– Be able to work as an effective team member
– Have the ability to work flexibly
– Demonstrate effective communication skills
– Be able to deliver high quality patient focused care
– Be motivated and dedicated to improving clinical practice
– Be committed to personal and staff development
– Participate in the provision of high quality patient care.

You will work closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe service delivery for patients and staff; participating in all aspects of wards duties.

Full support will be given for you to achieve your developmental needs. We expect staff to work together as a team to achieve the best outcomes; you will be encouraged to work with your manager to identify any individual learning needs relevant to the area.

You will be required to participate in providing 24 hour cover.

Newly qualified Band 5 nurses are welcomed to apply; you can work towards Band 5 competencies & develop extended roles. Full support for Preceptorship given.

The units encompass inpatient, day care and assessment services for our communities. We also have dedicated Children’s Out-Patient departments on both sites. This ensures a rich variety of experiences and development for our staff.
