An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Consultant Haematologist to join our team of 5 Consultants at University hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust. Our department seeks to provide a dynamic, friendly and clinically-led service across all three of our hospitals, Royal Lancaster Infirmary in Lancaster, Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal and Furness General Hospital in Barrow in Furness.  

The job plan is for 12 PA’s although this can be flexible and successful candidates may have an opportunity to negotiate job plans. There is considerable opportunity for an appointee to develop sub-specialist services across the trust.

The post

This is a replacement post. The post is available full time, 10PA’s, but part time working can be negotiated.

You would become a member of a team of 4 consultant microbiologists providing services for Morecambe Bay Hospitals and surrounding general practices. The department is warm, friendly, open and supportive and has a professional and friendly working relationship with clinicians through regular ward rounds and MDTs. Consultants rotate between sites and provides a wide range of services including infection control, training and education. The 24/7 on call duty is shared between 4 consultants.

We are looking for a General Radiologist with a specialist interest – the sub speciality is flexible to fit in with the needs of the Trust and the applicant’s interests and we would rather appoint a strong applicant than having a particular requirement for any specific subspecialty.

We invite you to join an established team of 16 Radiologists in providing a comprehensive diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Service for the population of North Lancashire and South Cumbria. We all contribute to the general workload of the department, including CT, US, MRI and plain film reporting and participate in the on call rota (1:16). We outsource on call work from 8 pm (weekdays) and 5 pm (weekend and Bank holidays) to provide a more palatable and sustainable working pattern.

We have good administrative support, highly integrated voice recognition (Dragon 11 Medical with HSS CRIS) and have an active programme to refresh equipment. (Three new CT scanners, three new MR scanners and 16 new USS machines in the last four years). The PACS has been upgraded to a state of the art SECTRA system along with replacement of all the reporting monitors. A new SPECT CT system has been given approval at Furness General Hospital with plans for a similar replacement in nuclear medicine at the Lancaster site.

Consultant – Trauma & Orthopaedics with advanced Hand & Wrist Medical & Dental

The Lake District is quite probably the most beautiful region in England and not surprisingly the National Park is the most visited in the country. Holiday makers are attracted here by the stunning scenery, the wealth of leisure activities and the multitude of good places to eat and drink. But why holiday here when you could be living and working here?

We are looking for a Substantive Consultant to join the Orthopaedic Team working at our hospitals in Lancaster and Kendal. post holder will undertake 10 (+2) PAs including 1.5 SPAs and 1 admin PA. A further 1 SPA can be awarded if justified (this will be reviewed within 12 months of taking up the post). On-calls will be at Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), a level-two trauma centre, on a 1 in 10 non-resident basis.

The post holder will be expected to develop the hand and wrist orthopaedic services offered by the Trust and provide the highest quality care to the local population. Basic hand surgery is currently carried out at RLI and we are looking for someone to complement this by developing an advanced hand surgery service. This should include all aspects of elective Hand & Wrist surgery including the surgical management of complex Hand & Wrist fractures. Submission and scrutiny of the last 12 months’ surgical log book of prospective candidates would be an integral part of shortlisting and interview process. The post holder will be supported by their own middle-grade doctor. Ward support will be provided by the 3 FY1 Drs, 2 FY2 Drs, 2 CT level Drs, 2 specialist nurse practitioners and the trauma coordinators. The administrative burden will be supported by a named secretary and waiting-list coordinator. Upon taking up the post the post-holder will be offered a consultant mentor.

Interview expenses will be paid for appoint of entry into the UK.

You must have full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice and entry on Specialist Register or in the receipt of CCT within six months of interview.

 

Interviews will be held on Friday, 3rd May 2019 at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
