Ward 20 is a busy elderly care ward which has a focus on multidisciplinary team working, dementia care and a keen eye for developing staff.  Medical Unit 2 where Ward 20 is based is a friendly site with excellent educational opportunities and support.

If you are successful at the shortlisting stage you will be invited to spend the afternoon with us on Friday, 15th March 2019 at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The afternoon will begin with a presentation, after which there will be a drugs calculation test and a 1:1 interview followed by a tour of the hospital site where you will have the opportunity to talk to members of staff.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner to work within the Furness Locality. This post would be primarily based at Abbey View with additional support to other areas as needed

Abbey View is a 24 bedded step up step down inpatient ward which provides care for the local community for patients with a wide variety of health needs including palliative and end of life care. We also support patients with on-going nursing medical and therapy need when recovering from exacerbations of chronic conditions.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide expert care and treatment to patients within agreed protocols and clinical guidelines. However the Nurse Practitioner will also have the ability to make decisions outside these frameworks, where necessary based on best practice. This is also an exciting opportunity to support service development to look at acute hospital prevention and early supported discharge with system colleagues as service development will be key within the role.

Working with clinical colleagues the nurse practitioner will lead the development of clinical services within medicine and improve the quality of care delivered.

There would be an opportunity to discuss about rotation into other areas to promote the development of skills.

Ward 23 is looking to recruit an experienced Band 5 registered nurses to join our dynamic and forward thinking team. Ideally, you will have experience in nursing patients who are either in the acute stage immediately following a stroke or participating in the ongoing care phase of active rehabilitation after a stroke.

We are a 24 bedded ward specialising in stroke care and rehabilitation. We enjoy a close relationship with the clinicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapy and dieticians. You will be expected to proactively engage with these professions to provide the best quality care and outcomes for our patients. You will participate in providing and sharing information throughout the day, to patients and their relatives, at ward rounds and at regular ward multidisciplinary meetings.

You will be expected to participate in internal rotation onto night duty and to work over 7 days.

There will also be a further rotational opportunity with the Acute stroke unit-Huggett Suite

You will be encouraged and supported to mentor student nurses and junior staff nurses and to provide support to all team members through a proactive approach to managing your daily workload and appropriate delegation. Excellent communication and time management skills are a necessity to this position. You will be encouraged to develop your nursing skills, mentorship and you will be supported to undertake additional training and study days.

We are looking for a General Radiologist with a specialist interest – the sub speciality is flexible to fit in with the needs of the Trust and the applicant’s interests and we would rather appoint a strong applicant than having a particular requirement for any specific subspecialty.

We invite you to join an established team of 16 Radiologists in providing a comprehensive diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Service for the population of North Lancashire and South Cumbria. We all contribute to the general workload of the department, including CT, US, MRI and plain film reporting and participate in the on call rota (1:16). We outsource on call work from 8 pm (weekdays) and 5 pm (weekend and Bank holidays) to provide a more palatable and sustainable working pattern.

We have good administrative support, highly integrated voice recognition (Dragon 11 Medical with HSS CRIS) and have an active programme to refresh equipment. (Three new CT scanners, three new MR scanners and 16 new USS machines in the last four years). The PACS has been upgraded to a state of the art SECTRA system along with replacement of all the reporting monitors. A new SPECT CT system has been given approval at Furness General Hospital with plans for a similar replacement in nuclear medicine at the Lancaster site.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has a keen interest and extensive involvement in Medical and Dental Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. We work in partnership with Lancaster Medical School, North Western Deanery and Health Education North West to provide quality education and training which meets the requirements of these regulatory bodies as well as the Trust’s high standards of patient care. UHMBFT provides one of the main NHS settings for students from Lancaster Medical School as we co-ordinate, deliver and quality assure the clinical component of Lancaster Medical Schools MBChB degree programme.

We are a training site for Specialist Trainees in Radiology as part of the North West School of Radiology and the Trust provides the majority of clinical attachments for students at Lancaster Medical School. There are ample opportunities to be involved in teaching if you wish.

You must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice and be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining your CCT at the time of interview.
