The Careers Team run a portfolio of events and projects that are designed to inspire and support people into Health and Care careers. We work in partnership with Schools, Universities, Job Centres as well as other Health and Care organisations across the South Cumbria and North Lancashire region in order to:
Support local careers events and activities;
Promote the wide range of careers within Health and Care;
Provide work experience opportunities and placements;
Run employability programmes to fill recruitment gaps and ‘grow our own’ future workforce;
Host inspiring open days, exhibitions and events.
If you would like to get involved with any of our projects or events, or if you would like to gain more advice or information, feel free to email us:
You can also follow us on Twitter (@BCTCareers), Instagram (bctcareers) and on Facebook (Bay Health & Care Careers Team) for regular updates and news on our events and projects.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on healthcare services and people’s everyday lives. It has also resulted in the current suspension of a number of our events and projects. For example, we are currently unable to organise work experience placements due to restrictions on external visitors in our hospitals and care homes. In order to minimise the spread of infection, and keep our patients and staff as safe as possible, we are also unable to run and host careers events at this time.
However, we are still very keen to engage with our local communities and inspire people to consider future careers in Health and Care. We are working closely with Careers Leads in schools, colleges and universities to design resources and virtual work experience opportunities in order to ensure that our local young people can engage with us and find out more about working in the NHS and Social Care sector. We have also been creating video workshops to provide support to jobseekers and online induction resources for new NHS employees.
Watch this space for information regarding our new digital careers resources and video workshops. We will also be running virtual work experience weeks and online careers events – more information to come soon!
