An opportunity has arisen for a pro-active team leader to join our friendly working team in the Urgent treatment Centre formally(Primary Care Assessment Service) based in the Westmorland General Hospital, Kendal.

We currently see in excess of 20,000 patients a year with minor injuries and illnesses, also providing an assessment service for GP referrals, where we assess for admission to our step up / step down units or if more appropriate acute services. Working closely with our community nursing and Acute Trust colleagues we aim to provide accessible and credible services.

We are looking for a motivated and committed band 6 Team Leader to co-ordinate shifts and be responsible for the smooth running of the department around the four hour standard. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to use own initiative is essential as is the ability to plan and organise your time and work under pressure. We would also require the successful candidate to have a keen interest in teaching, clinical audit and staff supervision acting as mentor to junior staff and new starters to the Trust.

Previous experience at band 6 is desirable but training and support will be given.

The post is shift work including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Royal Lancaster Infirmary is looking to expand it’s Clinical Site Management Team. The post will be to cover a 24 hour, 7 days a week service and will include, day, night and twilight shifts. It will provide a fantastic opportunity for an individual to work closely with all Divisions to ensure that potential breaches of the 4 hour operational standard, upholding the Trust position of ‘zero tolerance’ for non-clinical reasons done so in line with the Trusts Nursing & Midwifery Strategy and will play a fundamental role in the division’s vision for consistent delivery of safe and high quality patient care in a timely manner.

You will be a strong communicator and dedicated team player, with demonstrable leadership skills able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

You will be required to have a good understanding of both patient flow and site management and will have the clinical expertise to safely expedite discharges whilst ensuring that the clinical areas are supported on a 24 hour basis.

The CSM holds a high level of decision making authority and will be the first point of contact for all external enquiries, near misses and serious untoward incidents.

You will bring enthusiasm, energy and utilising lateral thinking skills when required.
