Applications are invited from enthusiastic, well-motivated Registered Nurses to join our Gynaecological Nursing team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Based on Ward 16, you will participate in a fully integrated Gynaecological nursing service covering inpatients, day case surgery and outpatients, with internal rotation to night duty and some rotation to the Gynaecology Out Patient department.

We provide a Gynaecology Assessment Unit, Early Pregnancy Unit, and are looking to expand our Nurse led services.

We also have a responsibility to care for non Gynaecology In patients.

Interest in women’s health issues, good communication skills and a commitment to providing high standards of care are essential attributes for the post.

This service is developing and therefore you will need to be flexible and adaptable.

The services we provide: 
South lakes Birth Centre, there are just over 1,100 births. Care is provided throughout pregnancy and the intrapartum and postnatal periods by a skilled and dedicated multi-disciplinary team. There is also a busy day assessment unit operational Monday- Friday.

Westmorland General Hospital, the Helme Chase Maternity Unit (HCMU) offers care to around 750 women throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period. This stand-alone midwife-led unit also supports approximately 190 women to labour and birth. The unit has recently refurbished its active birth room and has over 50% waterbirths per annum.

Royal Lancaster Infirmary(RLI) supports approximately 2,100 births . Care is provided throughout pregnancy and the intrapartum and postnatal periods by a skilled and dedicated multi-disciplinary team.

This unit admits a range of patients who require assessment of a wide spectrum of acute medical problems which may require admission to hospital. An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone ambitious and focussed to join the leadership team within the Intensive Care Unit at Royal Lancaster Infirmary. This is a fantastic development opportunity of which full support will be given to achieve reasonable objectives.

ICU cares for a mixture of surgical and medical patients and are a combined level 2 and 3 adult unit. There is a good ethos with the friendly team and all staff have a good working relationship with their medical colleagues whom they support. 

You must be highly motivated, willing to take on new challenges and prepared to lead the Intensive Care team. You would place a strong emphasis on Governance issues and would be expected to lead on quality & developmental objectives for the team and the department.
